Offically rated at 305hp 270lb-ft and 7000lbs towing sounds good to me.

And yes, the guides are slightly different, typically the Canyon gets more standard features across each package/model and get things like the locking rear diff that isn't even an option on the Colorado.
Power seat and rear-view camera are standard on all models, including WorkTruck.

Can't wait to get my order in on a crew cab Canyon!

Why the fuck is the locking diff only available on the more luxurious model? That's not a luxury feature, it's only good for going off road, and the basic transport truck is more likely to go where a locking diff will make a difference.

Edit: They look nice. I hope these really make a difference in the truck market and push Toyota to keep developing the Taco rather than letting it sit on the market unchanged.

I'll take a Black Crew-Cab Canyon with the All-terrain package. God I want one of these to bad!

I really hope the manual doesn't stick to just that 2.5 4 cylinder. At least give us a turbo and/or diesel option.

It's available as an option in lower models, just not in the absolute base work truck(SL) model, which I think is RWD, and G80 (auto-lock diff) has to be paired with a 4wd truck with automatic trans.

It's going to be a 'in person' colour decision for me, Black, Bronze Alloy, or Cyber Grey are my three contenders.

There was a black Canyon at the St. Louis Auto Show, and it had the All-Terrain package. Right then and there I knew that would be the combo I would get if I could afford one.

No matter the colour I get, the chrome bezel around the grille is getting plastidipped black, same goes for the lower fascia 'skid plate', and if the rear bumper isn't paint to match it's getting blacked too. Also any chrome window trim, side mirrors, and door molding. Hell maybe the rims too. Only large chrome section I'd leave are the 3 horizontal grille bars.

I'm thinking: Volant CAI, LineX bed and wheel wells, Extang tri-fold hard tonneau (the low profile flush mount model), small 2"(?) lift and level kit.
This will be the last summer I have to dropped $$$ using my work truck (2004 2500HD crew cab 6.6L) to tow my little 19ft Bayliner around.

*I actually average 14L/100km (17mpg) with my work truck, not bad all things considered, and she's just entering mid-life rolling over 250,000km this month.

im still a little miffed that they put the 3.5 and not the 4.3, but whateves, i'd wait for the diesel either way.

They didn't want engine overlap. I think they did go on record and say the two perform somewhat close in terms of power+torque (yea 4.3 has a bunch more torque, 3.6 has a bunch more power), but the 3.6 was more efficient in the 4000lb midsize trucks and fit the profile they are aiming for with these little brothers. That may have just been BS to justify not offering the 4.3 and to get the question settled. Size maybe too?
Having the 4.3 in the midsize would pretty much negate (to a point, of course) it in the fullsize, at least this way there is a clearly defined like of difference, because after all, these are the rough specs:
3.6 Canyon towing is 7000lbs, 4.3 Sierra is 7200lbs
3.6 Canyon payload is [around] 2000lbs, 4.3 Sierra payload is 2100lbs

The diesel will likely tow 7700lbs and 30mpg shouldnt be a stretch by any means (when empty/nothing in tow).

Wont be out until next year as a 2016. 30mpg hwy, 7700lb tow, 200hp, 325lb-ft.
Expect something along those lines. You can likely also expect it to be apart of an options package that tacks on about $3000 (same as Ram EcoDiesel)

i agree with all except i think the diesel will get lower tow ratings

I dunno, judging by the 3.0 EcoDiesel in the Ram versus the 3.6 Pentastar, the diesel can tow roughly 1500lbs more than the gas.
Will have to see what axle ratio they pair with the 2.8 Duramax.

yeah, don't forget that if GM decides to due the SAE ratings for tow tests, hp will factor in since some of the tests are how fast up a grade, which is why I suspect the tow rating may be less...though with 7000 lbs tow rating, Im thinking they wont be doing the SAE tests, since when Toyota did it with the 4runner the tow rating took a major hit and I suspect the Tacoma would as well, at thats 6500 lbs max towing.
